Exciting news from Ahel!

Starting in February 2024, and for the sixth consecutive year, Ahel will launch its online course, “Organizing and Leading Collective Action for Change,” available in Arabic. This course uses key concepts and pedagogy based on Professor Marshall Ganz’s Harvard Executive Education course Leadership Organizing and Action: Leading Change. It has been adapted to the Arabic language and the regional context, ensuring accessibility for communities that were previously unable to participate.

Over the past decade, Ahel has been dedicated to spreading the principles and practices of community organizing and collective leadership across the MENA region, fostering the agentic capacity of Arabic-speaking communities.

Throughout their journey, Ahel has empowered diverse groups, including women’s organizations, refugees, and communities with special needs. These empowered leaders have harnessed their communities’ sources of power to drive impactful change. Despite the challenges in the MENA region, Ahel has witnessed remarkable achievements, with 400 graduates organizing over 750 tactics, mobilizing over 45,000 people, and expanding their impact through teams of more than 4,000 additional leaders.

Now, Ahel invites you to support this course and thereby their mission in four crucial ways:

  1. Circulate the Arabic Announcement: Share the news with your partners, networks in the MENA region, and across your social media platforms.
  2. Encourage Applications: Motivate your partners to apply, either individually or in teams of 2 to 4 applicants.
  3. Sponsorship Opportunities: Consider sponsoring your partners, either in full or in part (the cost per participant is $1,875).
  4. Open Sponsorship: Extend your support by sponsoring any number of participants without restrictions.

The online course spans 22 weeks, from February 7th to June 29th, 2024, requiring a minimum commitment of 7 hours per week. Two hours include a mandatory live online lecture on Saturdays. This commitment is vital for absorbing the material, as the course pedagogy involves applying learning to real campaigns and reporting back for feedback and support.

Learn more about the course on its Arabic webpage, where you can find application links and the syllabus.

Your participation is integral to planting the seeds of change. If you are interested, please take this opportunity and join Ahel in this transformative journey!
