LCN is thrilled to announce the launch of Training of Trainers program in the fall of 2023.

Designed for experienced coaches who wish to become up-front trainers and teachers, this 3- month program will help you enhance your teaching, training and facilitation skills in the practices of Public Narrative and Organizing.

Last year, this program graduated 11 trainers from 9 different countries. Each of these trainers were matched with mentors who provided coaching during the program, as well as ongoing opportunities post-program.

You too can be part of this year’s journey! Many questions you’ve always grappled with as a coach and trainer will come to the surface here as we practice together and receive real-time feedback, coaching and support. Most importantly, this will be fun! The constant coaching you will receive from the facilitators, mentors and peers will strengthen your skills and improve your confidence.

Dates and duration

This program will run between September 20 and December 13, 2023. It is composed of 8 sessions to be held biweekly on Wednesdays. Timings for these sessions are yet to be decided, based on what would work for most participants. You can indicate your preferences in the application form. 

During your off-weeks, you will participate in peer coaching, coaching clinics, and readings. This is a breakdown of the sessions:

Application process and criteria

The program assumes prior coaching experience, and those with a clear understanding of the Public Narrative and Organizing frameworks – which you may have learned through a course, workshops or through your organization.

Meet your Trainer

Sarah ElRaheb-Dagher is a Canadian-Egyptian educator and coach who specializes in teaching public narrative, organizing, and leadership. She has her Master’s in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education, with a focus on the arts in education. She has spearheaded the design and implementation of many large-scale education projects, including an executive education course of the Public Narrative course taught through HKS, and an intensive curriculum for mayors from around the world through the Bloomberg Harvard Initiative. She has coached, taught, and coordinated over 100 Public Narrative and Organizing workshops across the United States, Canada, and beyond, and has had the opportunity to teach and coach hundreds of individuals, including artists, mayors, congresspeople, Dreamers, grassroots organizers, and TED talk speakers.  

Meet your Coach

Anjali Rodrigues (she/her) is an educator and leadership trainer who has been working in public schools, nonprofit organizations, and community organizing spaces for over fifteen years. During her time as a master’s student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Anjali taught Public Narrative and Community Organizing with Dr. Marshall Ganz at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She leads workshops on public narrative and community organizing for organizations all over the country, including: the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, the Sunrise Movement, March For Our Lives, Vital Voices, re:power, and more. She is the founder of the WARMTH fellowship, a program for young women of color ages 15-29 who seek to enrich their leadership practices through storytelling, peer coaching, and community care. In addition to her leadership development work, Anjali teaches community organizing and public narrative to high school students in Brooklyn, NY.

Contribution 

This is the second year we are running this program, and it is made possible largely through participant fees. Your contribution ensures that the program is sustainable for LCN trainers. We are confident that you will find opportunities for training and capacity building in the future that make this opportunity worthwhile for the time and resources spent, and LCN will support you in that. 

With this in mind, there are four fee options:

  1. My organization will sponsor the full tuition cost of $2000
  2. I can contribute the full tuition cost of $2000
  3. I would like to apply for a 50% scholarship and pay $1000
  4. I am an LCN member and would like to apply for the scholarship seat of $500

You may indicate your fee preference in the application form in Section 4. We have only 2-3 full scholarships prioritized for participants from globally underserved countries and organizations, who are active coaches & organizers in the LCN community.
