How can sustainable change be achieved when families and school textbooks dictate what children can or cannot aspire to?

In 2020, a group of 5 young Nigerian activists set out to end gender inequalities and stereotypes within the Nigerian school system, which were limiting opportunities for children. Initially, the group’s focus was on girls’ education, but they soon realized the importance of engaging boys in these critical conversations.

To begin with, Whisper to Humanity faced significant pushback. Join us to discover:

– How Whisper to Humanity ultimately succeeded in building trust and fostering relationships with teachers, schools, and parents, despite the societal sensitivities surrounding these issues.

– How they planted the seeds for dozens of school clubs led by children themselves to emerge across Nigeria and beyond.

– How they expanded their very bounded leadership team of women to include men.

– Their ingenious methods and tactics to empower children include the development of an app, games, and school competitions.
