We invite you to join us at 12pm ET on Friday 11th December for our next Training Showcase about the Wisconsin Leadership Development (WiLD) online Academy!

Come learn how they adapted their organizing training online to enable 15 teams to develop campaigns and rise to the challenges of the moment – from 2020 voter turnout, defending family farms, Nigerian youth employment, to criminal justice reform and more.

As the coronavirus was spreading and the US Presidential election was fast approaching earlier this year, the Wisconsin Leadership Development (WiLD) Project had to quickly reimagine its work in the face of training cancellations. Feeling this urgency, they decided to move it all online.

One adaptation was to design the Academy to be a vehicle for launching organizing campaigns. Recruitment was oriented toward learning teams (3-9 people) with an organizing project focus. This required building a leadership team that could mobilize members of a constituency to achieve a clear outcome within 6-12 months.

We’ll be joined by WiLD’s Founder Dan Grandone and his team, who will share:

  • How WiLD quickly adapted the course to an online environment;

  • How to scaffold and design training for teams to run successful campaigns on the ground;

  • What makes for successful teams and how to effectively learn together as a team;

  • How you can participate in the 2021 WiLD Academy

Dan will be joined by campaigns that were involved in the Academy, including a youth employment campaign in Nigeria, 2020 electoral campaign in rural Wisconsin and Black Lives Matter organisers in Texas.

This session will be useful to trainers and organisers, who might be interested in designing online training for teams or considering your own team for the next 10-week WiLD Academy starting in January 2021.
