In these challenging times, our Palestinian Series is an effort by LCN to emphasize non-violent movements, recognizing their relevance and importance. By showcasing these non-violent efforts, we aim to expedite the acquisition of effective nonviolent skills as an alternative approach for building and exercising power and agency. This is especially vital within the Palestinian context, where the notable disparity in military and economic resources underscores the necessity for those facing power imbalances to explore creative and resourceful ways to level the playing field.
To understand these non-violent efforts we also believe we must understand their context, delving deeper into the reasons why, over the span of 56 years, the Israeli occupation has transformed into an asymmetric apartheid situation despite multiple attempts at negotiation, rather than evolving into an egalitarian and inclusive democracy. There are valuable insights for all of us to draw from this situation.
As we introduce this series of events, we are witnessing a concerning escalation of violence against civilians in Israel and Palestine. We believe it is even more critical to consider non-violent strategies to deal with the conflict.
Each event in “The Palestinian Series” will shed light on the diverse ways in which Palestinians have adapted nonviolent resistance strategies in the face of Israeli oppression. This campaign showcase series by LCN offers a vital opportunity to learn about and support the Palestinian struggle for freedom, justice, and equality, amplifying a range of movements and campaigns working towards these objectives. It also provides a platform to learn from the experiences of these nonviolent initiatives.
We hope you will join us for this important series of events.
