This editorial introduces activist love as a feminist praxis and utopian method that can serve as a critical and creative pedagogy for use by educators engaging youth on climate change.

This editorial introduces activist love as a feminist praxis and utopian method that emerges from more than a decade of the author’s experience in climate justice organizing, research, and education.

Activist love is a critical, creative, and imaginative praxis that combines reflexive self-work, relational interdependence, radical trust in collective emergence, and rootedness in deep intergenerational time to cultivate and sustain organizing in movements for liberation.

While this framework is rooted in movement contexts, it can serve as a critical and creative pedagogy for use by educators engaging youth on climate change. Students, educators, and communities can draw on activist love to foster transformative, place-based, and enduring change.

This editorial covers four axioms of activist love for climate justice that could serve as both tools for organizing in schools and a curricular philosophy: (1) a labor of the self, (2) a practice of relationality, (3) a radical trust, and (4) a rootedness in temporality.
