‘Prisms of the People’ Book Event
On April 21st, we were joined by Liz McKenna to talk about her upcoming book ‘Prisms of the People: Power & Organizing in Twenty-First-Century America’ . The session illuminated important lessons, insights, and questions around the practices of building and shifting power in organizing.

Organizations Learn Series #1 – Lessons in building civic leadership in Japan

On May 25th, we’re launching our new series Organizations Learn, a space dedicated to sharing and learning from successes and failures by organizations training and practicing the organizing and Public Narrative pedagogy.
In our first session of the series, we’ll be joined by Kanoko Kamata, Akira Nakajima, Toor Kuzumaki, and Ryutaro Arakawa from Community Organizing Japan (COJ), which started in 2013 to spread community organizing in Japan. They will share lessons from their journey seeding and growing campaigns in a society with a strong stigma against social activism, and how they strategically built pathways to move people to action.

Skill practice session – Relationship Building 1:1’s
Friday, June 11th | 10:00-11:30am Eastern Time
Building relationships is at the heart of the work we do as organizers. Relationships are key to developing the power we need to create the change we want. But it takes practice to be able to build relationships in a way that is structured, intentional, and transformational.
Join us on June 11th in our next skill practice session on relationship building 1:1’s – let’s get on the bike together to strengthen our relationship building muscles!
The session will be led by LCN Member Reem Khashman from Jordan. Reem was a Teaching Fellow for the Harvard Kennedy School online program Leadership, Organizing, and Action in 2020, and is currently teaching the Arabic organizing course with Ahel.
