People, Power, Change: Organizing for Democratic Change. A Conversation with Dr. Marshall Ganz
Join Democrats Abroad France and Indivisible Paris for a special evening conversation with Dr. Ganz about his latest book, People, Power, Change: Organizing for Democratic Renewal (Oxford University Press, 2024).
Dr. Ganz is one of the world’s leading authorities on democratic organizing, and this book is the culmination of his decades of teaching, research, and work. In it he explains how ordinary people can work together to turn the resources they have into the power they need to achieve real change in their lives. He explores the forces, craft, and learned skill of organizing and provides an actionable framework for how to actually do it.
At a moment when our democratic abilities seem to have eroded, and political, economic, and technological forces have weakened the capacity for collective action, People, Power, Change is a once-in-a-generation book for anyone who wants to create real and lasting change.

Changing the World, One Story at a Time -
A conversation with Marshall Ganz on Public Narrative & Organizing

For fifty years, the world’s most significant citizens’ movements have drawn on Marshall Ganz’s work. For the first time in Paris, he shares this method live.

From Organizing to Victory: A Workshop with Marshall Ganz, Harvard Kennedy School
What lessons can we learn from organizing as a tactic in an electoral campaign?
How can organizing help us protect democracy, both in the electoral and non-electoral spheres?
This workshop will be an opportunity to meet Marshall Ganz, the legendary American organizer and movement coach, during his tour of France. Mr. Ganz will begin with a masterclass on nonviolent movement organizing to set the stage. He will then invite a representative of a nonviolent movement (selected in advance) on stage for a conversation, during which he will provide one-on-one coaching on strategic issues. The workshop will conclude with a Q&A session, so come prepared with your “burning questions” about organizing and the protection of democracy.
We are hosting this gathering for organizers, trainers, volunteers, engaged students, and researchers to have an in-depth conversation with Marshall about protecting democracy and the interplay between institutional and extra-institutional strategies. It will also be an opportunity to delve deeper into the recent mass mobilizations in the United States (Hands Off, No Kings, Minneapolis…), which have been covered in French media.
📍 Venue: In-person workshop in Paris city center, address will be sent upon registration confirmation
🕒 Time and Date: June 12, 2026 9h-11h30
