United in Resistance: Lessons in Liberation from South Africa, Turtle Island, and Palestine
This session is part of an ongoing learning space on liberation movements that centers stories and lived experiences of resistance and liberation in Palestine and beyond.
As we hit the one year mark of the genocide in Gaza, tens of thousands of people are taking to the streets in support for Palestine, Lebanon, and human dignity in the face of unspeakable terror. Stories of organizing against oppressive colonial structures around the world show us that our struggles are interlinked, and that our fight to achieve justice, freedom, and dignity are deeply connected with one another.
The first session of the LCN learning series on Organizing for Liberation focused on the inspiring work of students organizing across campuses for Palestine; in this second session, we turn to past and present movements for liberation and what we can learn from them.
We will hear stories and lessons from the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa and Indigenous resistance in Turtle Island (Canada), and explore how they connect to the current struggle for liberation in Palestine.
