Skill Practice Sessions on Strategy and Tactics – Strategy I & II (2026)

Skill Practice Sessions on Strategy and Tactics – Strategy I & II (2026)

Strategy is a living practice. It requires critical thinking, the ability to ask the right questions, and the courage to navigate uncertainty without losing sight of your goal.

In organizing, strategy is how we translate our values, our people, and our resources into a clear path toward the change we seek. But strategizing well is a skill that has to be practiced, and the complexity of real-world campaigns means that skill is always being tested.

This two-part skill practice series invites you to strengthen your strategic thinking in community. Across two sessions, we’ll explore the following questions: Who is our constituency? What is the exact problem that our people hope to solve, and a concrete goal we will achieve through organizing? What assumptions do we hold about resources and interests, and how do we formulate a theory of change that is effective in building power, realistic, and nested? What tactics could we use, and what would the timeline look like?

Whether you’re working on a campaign right now or looking to sharpen your thinking before your next one, these sessions will give you the tools and the practice to strategize with greater clarity and confidence.

Join our two-part series of skill practice sessions over September and October, where we will apply and practice the process of creating an organizing strategy:

1. Strategy I: Monday, September 14th @10am – 12:00pm ET / 5-7pm Amman time (find your timezone here)

2. Strategy II: October 20th @10am – 12:00pm ET / 5-7pm Amman time (find your timezone here)

Farah Halasa

Farah grew up in Amman, Jordan. At 13, she began volunteering in a safe house for girls pushed out of school. Sitting with them, she realized that injustice was not an abstract idea but something shaping lives only a few streets away from hers. That moment sparked her search for ways communities could reclaim their power. In her adult years, she worked with local groups through community-based tourism and later studied inclusive development, always asking how real change begins. In 2020, she accompanied refugee mothers of children with disabilities as they organized for healthcare rights. Though they faced challenges that organizing tools alone could not overcome, the experience deepened her determination to explore how oppression can be dismantled. Most recently, she have been working with women agricultural workers through popular education, supporting their campaign for labour rights—rooted in solidarity, persistence, and hope.
