How do stories facilitate individual and collective leadership for change?

To answer this question, Dr. Emilia Aiello led a EU-funded research project Narratives4Change to understand how Public Narrative is being used to build people power and leadership in campaigns and organizations.

Join our session on April 21st Thursday 12-1:45pm Eastern Time (6-7:45pm Central European Time) to explore the use and impact of Public Narrative through the cases of two organizations, We The People Michigan and its work in the Drive Michigan Forward Campaign, and NHS Horizons with the Maternity Voices Partnership!

We The People Michigan is a statewide multi-racial community organization that is building people-power for social and economic justice in Michigan. We will be joined by Executive Director Art Reyes and Michigan Immigrant Justice coordinator Nelly Fuentes to share how they used to Public Narrative to organize a statewide coalition of immigrants and allies in their Drive Michigan Forward Campaign to restore driver licenses for undocumented people.

NHS Horizons is a team within the Improvement Directorate of NHS England and NHS Improvement which supports leaders of change, teams, organizations and systems to think differently about large-scale change, improve collaboration, and accelerate change. Director of NHS Horizons Kathryn Perera, Mo Ade, Chair of a Maternity Voices Partnership and Elaine King, member of the NHS Health Education England, will share how Public Narrative enabled patient leaders to effectively lead transformation in maternity services.

Co-hosted by Leading Change Network and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the event will feature presentations of the main findings from the Narratives4Change project and a detailed introduction of the two cases, followed by an open dialogue between presenters from We The People Michigan, NHS Horizons, and Dr. Emilia Aiello around the insights and challenges of using Public Narrative to develop leadership and capacity.
