In 2018, LCN Affiliate Haiyya launched an Executive Education Program: People, Power & Change (PPC) in collaboration with O.P Jindal Global University in India.
This program is one of a kind in India, educating change-makers on campaigning and community organizing. The Leadership, Organizing and Action: Leading Change (LOA) online course was instrumental in enhancing the Haiyya team’s learning and capacity to launch this program in India.
The Haiyya team had been thinking of launching a similar initiative in India for the past couple of years so that more change-makers in India can have access to this knowledge, pedagogy and learning which they otherwise wouldn’t have access to. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support, encouragement and mentorship the Haiyya team received from Leading Change Network.
Haiyya’s People, Power & Change course facilitators were people from India who either studied organizing at Harvard’s Kennedy School or online with LOA. The course featured additional guest lecturers from the Harvard Women Alumni network and other civil society organisations who are experts in offering additional skills like working with the government in India, fundraising, systems thinking and more.
The Haiyya team also invited peers from Leading Change Network to coach People, Power & Change students in different organizing practices. They’re now looking forward continuing to educate more changemakers in the craft of organizing.
