Matthew Baggetta is Assistant Professor of Public and Environmental
Affairs at Indiana University and affiliated faculty (by courtesy) of both the
Department of Sociology and the School of Philanthropy at Indiana
University. His research interests include civil society and civic
engagement, voluntary associations, and social movements with substantive attention ranging from major environmental advocacy groups
to local community choirs. His recent work focuses in particular on the
effects on participants of participation in various associational
contexts, especially among youth. His work has appeared in the American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, Social Forces, and Perspectives on Politics.
