Connecting with LCN

November 6, 2014 in News by Ruby Sinreich

You may have noticed some subtle changes to our website about a month ago. What you couldn’t see then is that under the hood, this site has a whole new suite of new features designed to help our network members connect and communicate with each other.  If you have registered for the Global Gathering then you have already found one key tool: member profiles.

Once you create a profile, you can take advantage of many other tools. You can access them all through the menu under your name in the top-right corner of the site whenever you are logged in.

Here’s a quick overview:

User Groups
Join groups to participate in conversations and get connected to other members. Groups can be public, private or hidden depending on the configuration.

Private Messaging
Allows you to write to other members directly and in private. Not just limited to one-on-one discussions, messages can be sent between any number of members.

Activity Streams
Individual and group activity streams show recent activity and allow commenting, favoriting, and @mentions,

Friend Connections
Make connections with other members to facilitate communication and see updates on their activity.

Account Settings & Notifications
Get notifications of relevant activity with a toolbar bubble and/or via email. Modify your account and customize notification settings directly from your profile page.

We hope you will take advantage of these new features to support your work. Next week we will launch a discussion group for participants in the Global Gathering.  Contact us if you would like to create a new group for your own purposes.
