I have spent years studying (experientially) our failing low income social support systems and how they add to the difficulty, rather than help families and individuals in crisis. Failing and desperate people do not need a meager check thrown in their direction on a monthly basis. They need an entire support system on a much shorter term basis than most who are currently enmeshed in the DSHS system are offered. I have heard this repeated over and over even within the system itself. The catch is that no one has the time or manpower to employ such as system. I have developed such a system and seek others who would like to launch a pilot program. I would be very wrong not to add that it is and has been there the entire time for us all to see and so, I claim no prize in simply seeing and remembering this way of life. The important thing is to DO it. To model it, and to document it. I reach out to you, the movers and shakers of social sustainability. I am a foot soldier, not a public speaker. It’s been 15 years at least that I have waited while things have gotten much, much worse. I do not wait out of my lack of ability other than financial shortcomings. I wait because it takes that contact from others who can see this vision and then spend their time and effort on it. I would love to talk about “Cocooning” with you. I’m not getting any younger and I have so much to share. Sincerely, Lynda Swanson
I am interested in hearing more of what you have to say. I believe the time has come for changes and I also am not getting any younger !
Looking forward to hearing from you.,
